Discover X Island – The Last Frontier for Giant Trevally Fishing
If you’re searching for the biggest Giant Trevally on Earth, welcome to X Island – a raw, untouched paradise where only the strong hearted win!
This isn’t your average fishing trip. X Island is a remote and unforgiving landmass surrounded by raging currents, wild weather, and one of the most dangerous land-based fishing spots in the world. There’s no resort, no roads, and definitely no backup. Just you, your gear, and some of the hardest fighting fish in the saltwater world live here...
This Island is the reason I designed and created the saltwater fishing lure range named "Current Killer", they are the only handmade stickbait that can handle the powerful rip currents! If you did not know about this range of lure they are here; https://cavyfishing.com/products/current-killer-stickbait-lime-sardine-drop?variant=46908068528295
Why Fish X Island?
🌊 Extreme GT Territory
X Island sits at the crossroads of powerful ocean currents, creating the perfect hunting ground for monster GTs. These predators smash surface lures in less than a second and will destroy your tackle if you’re not ready. It’s raw, aggressive fishing—just the way we like it.
🐟 More Than Just Trevally
This is also the domain of Dogtooth Tuna, Wahoo, Yellowfin, and wild reef species you’ve probably never seen before, which you can catch a huge variety of these reef flat species using the most well rounded fishing lure the Cavy Fishing X Salty Passion 115 Minnow https://cavyfishing.com/products/premium-edition-salty-passion-minnow-115f as seen in image below. Each strike is violent, and the huge flow of water moving is used to their advantage. Every hookup is adrenaline pumping, and nerve racking!
⛺ Survive or Go Home
I found this spot alone, camp here alone, and fish alone. It's totally off-grid. Some other fisherman and even local to the area think they know where this is but secretly it is not the same spot!
Tropical storms roll through periodically, wild and very dangerous animals roam the bushland and even the shoreline at times. The fishing spots often require treacherous hikes which is why I came up with this versatile fishing shoe named the Rock Hoppers Pro https://cavyfishing.com/collections/rock-hoppers. The shoes are made with anti slip felt + small metal spikes to help grip on wet slippery rocks when fishing. I survive most of the time off limited portions of food or from what I catch. There’s no luxury here, a wild island with just as wild fish. Pure isolation and survival fishing!
Getting to X Island
Getting here is no joke. Two flights minimum, long sketches boat rides in rough seas, risky landings with mostly captains who do not speak english, so you only hope they know when to pick you back up.. If the boat survives the journey against the constant exposure wild elements. You’ll need:
-
Camping gear that can handle powerful tropical storms!
-
Knowledge of tide and current movement is a must
-
The strongest saltwater fishing gear money can buy 100%
-
Love for adventure, hardship, extreme heat, and wild animal encounters
- Sun UV Protective clothing is a must! https://cavyfishing.com/collections/uv-protection
This is not a place for beginners or Instagram fishermen. It’s a place where respect for nature and preparation mean everything, or you will never comeback!
Best Time to Fish X Island
The GT season peaks between NEVER BUT ALWAYS, when the currents are strongest and baitfish are schooling around the reefs. But remember—conditions are never easy here. Be ready for sudden changes in weather, dangerous swell, and unexpected challenges every single day. I am yet to find a better time of year here, the fish seem to always be around when the currents are running!
Final Thoughts – Do You Have What It Takes?
X Island is the ultimate land-based fishing test. You’re not just casting into wild waters—you’re stepping into a world where nature is king. It’s brutal. It’s beautiful. And if you’re lucky, you might just land the biggest GT of your life.
This is not a holiday. This is survival fishing. Welcome to X Island.
