Built from the Water Up
I’m Adam Cavanagh, founder and the angler behind Cavy Fishing. Born and raised in Australia, I’ve spent my life exploring coastlines, surf zones and remote reefs – chasing fish, refining gear, and building a community around what I believe matters: real performance, integrity, and saltwater adventures.
From my earliest days, I’ve always felt most at home by the sea. I grew up camping and fishing along Australia’s coasts, learning how tides, structure and weather shaped where fish live. As I began traveling – across Southeast Asia, remote islands, rugged shores – I realized how often I’d be frustrated by gear that simply didn’t hold up to the conditions. That’s when I decided: I’d build the tackle I’d want to use myself.
Every lure, shirt, shoe or tool you see in the Cavy lineup has been tested by me in real conditions – reefs, surf, rocky headlands and blue water. If it can’t perform where it counts, it doesn’t make the cut. That’s why when you buy from Cavy, you’re not just getting gear – you’re getting confidence, backed by years on the water, trial failures, and constant tweaks.
Cavy Fishing was built to bridge the gap between content (you’ve seen the YouTube videos, the tutorials, the adventures) and real, serious gear. I didn’t want just a brand – I wanted to bring anglers along the journey. The lures I push on camera are the same ones I push hard when fishing. The apparel, the shoes, the tools – they all need to survive the same punishment.

What drives me?
- to build gear that doesn’t fail
- to share real knowledge (not fluff) with the fishing community
- to support the joy of landing that next big strike, whether from your local rock ledge or a distant reef
- to leave the water, reefs and coastline better than we found them
